The last 24 hours
The GIS perimeter grew to 172,397 acres, still 81% contained (current perimeter dated Sep 10, 6:37 AM PDT, about 90 minutes old at capture) — a modest +198-acre tick since last night's report. InciWeb's latest post remains its Sep 9 Daily Update (no Sep 10 post yet as of this capture), carrying the prior GIS figure (172,199 acres, 81%, 770 personnel) and describing fire behavior as "backing, flanking and surface fire with localized increases where residual heat, receptive fuels and terrain aligned," with multiple smoke columns near Stormy Mountain, Trinity, and above the Mad River. It expects overnight moderation and further calming over the next 24–72 hours ahead of Friday night's rain chances.
No zone anywhere on the perimeter has been edited since Sep 3. The Level 1 ring closest to the house holds at 2.0 mi NNE (unedited since Sep 1), and the nearest Level 3 ring is unchanged at 5.1 mi N. Nothing here trips the tracker's alert condition.
The two persistent interior heat clusters at 6.1 mi NE and 6.7 mi NE continue to show activity (7 and 17 detections respectively, latest dated Sep 9) but remain inside the fire's existing footprint. The three single-day clusters flagged UNVERIFIED Tuesday — 8.5 mi NNE (1 detection, FRP 1.5), 8.9 mi NNE (4 detections, FRP 7.8), and 10.1 mi NNE (6 detections, FRP 8.2) — show no detections dated past Sep 9 as of this morning's satellite pass; still no news corroboration. A full news sweep (InciWeb, lakewenatcheeinfo.com — unreachable again, Lake Chelan Now, the county's active-emergencies page — still last updated Aug 17, wasmoke.blogspot.com, and a general search) turned up nothing dated today beyond routine fire-weather language. Continuing to watch, not leading.
Fire weather
Today runs northwesterly, 8–12 mph (gusts to 22), sunny, high 73 — still the favorable quadrant, pushing the fire southeast and away from Plain. Tonight backs light and northerly, 5–9 mph — the danger-signal direction toward Plain via the drainages, but modest and overnight, when fire activity typically eases. Friday returns light and NW, 1–5 mph; Saturday brings a light NE, 2 mph breeze alongside a 60% chance of rain showers, favorable on balance. No NWS fire weather alerts, no thunderstorm or outflow signal in the forecast.
Air quality
Modeled AQI at the house is 26 (PM2.5 3 µg/m³) — good, improved from 42 last evening. No air quality alert.
Roads: no new road blocks logged.
