The last 24 hours

The GIS perimeter, still mapped at 6:14 AM PDT, holds at 127,488 acres, 5% contained — no new infrared pass has come in since this morning, so today's actual growth isn't yet reflected, not necessarily a stall. InciWeb's Aug 12 update (posted 10:08 AM) carries the same 127,488-acre, 5%-contained figures — no lag today — and describes continuing "extreme, crowning, long-range spotting, uphill runs" with active fire along portions of the perimeter and within interior islands. No Plain-side zone has been touched; Level 1, 2, and 3 remain frozen since July 25–31, and the nearest mapped edge held at 8.6 mi NNW for a fourth consecutive report. Two zones did move today — LG Chelan Level 3 and Level 2, both redrawn at 11:37 AM — but they sit on the fire's Lake Chelan north-shore flank, 15.1–16 mi NE/ENE of the house (the Level 2 line actually moved slightly farther out, from 15.5 to 16 mi), outside the tracker's 15-mile alert radius and unrelated to the Plain side. Near-Plain heat detections (37 clusters within 12 mi) are unchanged in character from recent reports — persistent activity on the known NNW/NE flanks, nothing indicating a new start closer to the house.

Fire weather

Regime is mixed today. This afternoon's wind is light NW (13 mph), still pushing growth away from Plain, but it eases and turns overnight and Thursday to light W to N (0–13 mph) — the drainage-toward-Plain direction, though at speeds too low to carry meaningful spread. NWS Spokane's Red Flag Warning is in effect until 11 PM PDT tonight for the thunderstorm system moving through; erratic outflow gusts remain the one real wildcard in an otherwise light wind picture. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday (60% chance), the best rain signal of the week so far.

Air quality

Reversed, sharply. Modeled AQI at the house is 93 (PM2.5 110.4 µg/m³), up from 84 (PM2.5 41.8) this morning — roughly a 2.6x jump in fine particulate after four straight reports of improvement. NWS has an Air Quality Alert in effect through tomorrow, 12 PM. Nothing in today's news sweep points to a specific new smoke source; this reads as the interior active-fire behavior described above (crowning, spotting) combined with today's lighter, more variable winds settling smoke into the valley rather than clearing it.

Roads: no new road blocks logged. The lakewenatcheeinfo.com and Chelan County active-emergencies pages did not return usable content on this sweep — not treated as a pipeline failure per the runbook, but worth flagging: no independent confirmation from those two sources this run beyond what InciWeb and the GIS layer already show.
