The last 24 hours

The house remains inside the Level 1 "Get Ready" zone, unchanged since the Aug 15 redraw. Level 2 "Get Set" holds at 2.0 mi NNE and Level 3 "Go Now" at 3.7 mi NNE, both untouched since Aug 16. No zone in the Sheriff's layer was edited in the last 24 hours.

The GIS perimeter refreshed for the first time since yesterday afternoon — now dated Aug 23, 10:18 AM PDT at 144,830 acres, 15% contained, up from the stale 142,226-acre figure this morning's brief was still working from. Nearest edge is essentially flat at 5.2 mi NNE (was 5.3 mi NE). InciWeb's Aug 23, 6:29 PM update carries a newer timestamp but a lower figure — 142,228 acres, 15% contained — reflecting the usual gap between the mapped GIS polygon and the reconciled incident number; treat InciWeb's as the working-current acreage, the GIS layer as the authority on zone boundaries and distance.

That InciWeb update also confirms the Entiat-side evacuation downgrade this brief has flagged as unconfirmed since Saturday afternoon: homes on Entiat River Road moved from Level 3 to Level 2, with further reductions to Level 1, matching the zone reshuffle the GIS layer showed Aug 22 between 1:43 and 3:31 PM. Forest Service roads in that area, including Entiat River Road beyond the Sno Park, remain closed. None of this affects the Plain side of the fire.

The two near-Plain VIIRS clusters at 5.2 and 5.6 mi NNE are now confirmed persistent (second consecutive day, 41 and 23 detections). The single-day cluster at 6.1 mi NE flagged yesterday morning is still unconfirmed — no second-day detection, FRP still low (1.72) — and no news source mentions anything new in that direction; reads as fading rather than a new start, though not yet ruled out. lakewenatcheeinfo.com returned no usable content this cycle, Lake Chelan Now's latest post is still Thursday's community-meeting notice, and the Chelan County active-emergencies page was unreachable from this environment (network policy, not a data failure). A general search surfaced only older, pre-Plain-boundary articles — nothing dated today.

Fire weather

Wind held NW 12 mph, gusts to 21 this afternoon, continuing to push the fire east, away from Plain. Tonight calms to N 1–9 mph. The northeast wind this brief flagged Saturday as Monday's danger signal has dropped out of the forecast — Monday now shows S 0–5 mph, calm and out of the danger quadrant. No Red Flag Warning is currently posted.

Air quality

AQI 169 (PM2.5 148.1 µg/m3) as of 4 PM — still unhealthy, roughly flat with this morning. NWS's Air Quality Alert for Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties expired at 3 PM with no replacement currently posted.

Roads: no blocks logged in the GIS layer; Entiat River Road beyond the Sno Park remains closed per InciWeb.
