Quiet since this morning: the GIS perimeter still hasn't refreshed past Aug 26, but InciWeb's 2:19 PM update holds the fire flat at 155,974 acres and 23% contained, same figures as this morning's reading. Wind stays favorable out of the northwest despite a regional Red Flag Warning well east of the fire, and NWS extended its Air Quality Alert through Friday noon even as the AQI eased slightly to 165.

The house remains inside the Level 1 "Get Ready" zone, unchanged since the Aug 25, 9:20 AM PDT redraw — no zone in the Sheriff's layer has been edited since. Level 2 "Get Set" holds at 2 mi NNE and Level 3 "Go Now" at 3.7 mi NNE, both untouched since Aug 16.

The GIS perimeter is still dated Aug 26, 8:28 AM PDT — over 32 hours stale now — at 149,861 acres, 23% contained, nearest mapped edge flat at 5.2 mi NNE. InciWeb's Aug 27, 2:19 PM update puts the fire at 155,974 acres, also 23% contained — identical to the figure cited in this morning's brief, so no further growth logged there through the day. InciWeb's narrative describes an active period driven by morning thunderstorm outflow winds that produced rapid fire activity and column development, then breezy afternoon winds — a pattern consistent with the last several days.

VIIRS logged a cluster of new detections at 8–9.4 mi NE overnight, including a nine-detection cell at 9.0 mi NE with FRP up to 58 — higher energy than recent noise, but sitting directly inside the dense, days-old heat footprint that has covered the fire's northeast flank all week, not a standalone new start. Nearest detection overall is unchanged at 5.8 mi N, FRP 1.08.

Lake Chelan Now's latest post is still the Aug 20 community-meeting notice, the Chelan County active-emergencies page still shows its Aug 17, 3:30 PM update, and wasmoke.blogspot.com's latest is an Aug 24 post noting smoke from Little Giant "settling into mountain valleys" — already reflected in today's air quality picture below. A general search surfaced only stale articles from earlier fire stages, discarded rather than reported.

Fire weather

A cold front is crossing the region this afternoon, and NWS Spokane has posted a Red Flag Warning through 8 PM tonight — but it covers the Okanogan Valley and Waterville Plateau zones, east of the fire, not the Plain/Chiwawa area. The local point forecast for the house and fire stays in the favorable northwest quadrant throughout: NW ~12 mph this afternoon (gusts to 24), NW 5–10 mph tonight, NW 5–9 mph Friday, no shift toward the north/northeast danger quadrant. Saturday's system brings a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with gusty, erratic outflow winds possible — worth watching, though winds turn light westerly by then.

Air quality

AQI 165 (PM2.5 28.2, PM10 29.3) as of 4 PM — down slightly from this morning's 169 peak. NWS renewed the Air Quality Alert at 10:00 AM PDT and extended it to expire Friday, Aug 28 at 12:00 PM PDT, a day later than this morning's brief expected.
