The last 24 hours
The GIS perimeter is unchanged from last report: still mapped 5:14 PM PDT Tuesday, September 3, now more than a day old, at 170,985 acres. The one figure that did move is containment, which the same feed now reports at 81%, up from 73% in this morning's snapshot — an 8-point jump with no change to the underlying geometry or its timestamp, the same pattern that produced the unconfirmed 65%→73% jump reported two cycles ago. InciWeb's newest post, dated today, Sep 4 at 4:03 PM, still has it at 170,784 acres, 73% contained — so 81% is working-current per the GIS feed but not yet corroborated by a named source; worth watching whether InciWeb catches up next cycle or the number reverts.
No zone anywhere on the perimeter was edited in the last 24 hours. The Level 1 ring closest to the house holds at 2.0 mi NNE (unedited since Sep 1), and the nearest Level 3 ring is unchanged at 5.1 mi N (last edited Sep 3, 2:31 PM). Nothing here trips the tracker's alert condition.
Several heat clusters between 6.5 and 10.1 mi NE/NNE show up flagged
persistent: false in today's snapshot. As in recent briefs, each is a
single-day, low-to-moderate detection dated Aug 28 that only reads as
"new" because the rolling VIIRS window keeps dropping earlier days off the
back end — the same window-rollover artifact called out in the last two
reports, not a new start. The nearest actual detection in the last 24 hours
is 16.2 mi ENE, 11 hours old. No genuine new heat signature near Plain.
News beyond the GIS and InciWeb added little: lakewenatcheeinfo.com again returned no usable content (recurring bot-challenge), Lake Chelan Now's most recent Little Giant piece is still from Aug 20, and the Chelan County EM active-emergencies page is stuck on an Aug 17 update — all lagging well behind the GIS. wasmoke.blogspot.com's Sep 4 post notes regional air quality has improved to good/moderate and that, despite rain elsewhere in the region over the past 72 hours, the Little Giant footprint itself got little of it and has only about a 20% chance of a further quarter-inch soon.
Fire weather
Winds stay light through the weekend: S at 2 mph this afternoon, NW at 1 mph tonight, SW 0–3 mph Saturday, trending N at 2 mph Sunday and W at 6–12 mph by Labor Day. None of this is the drainage-toward-Plain pattern, and it's too weak to drive growth either way. Chances of showers and thunderstorms today and Saturday (30–40% POP) are more likely to dampen activity than create outflow risk given how weak the flow is. No NWS fire weather alerts are in effect.
Air quality
Modeled AQI at the house improved to 63 (PM2.5 3.2 µg/m³) — good, down from moderate in this morning's report. No air quality alert is posted.
Roads: no new road blocks logged.
