The last 24 hours
No report went out for yesterday's evening cycle, so this covers roughly 36 hours. The GIS perimeter grew to 172,167 acres, 81% contained (current perimeter dated Sep 9, 7:39 AM PDT, about half an hour old at capture) — a +641-acre tick since the Sep 8 morning report, in line with recent mapping noise at this containment level. InciWeb's latest post, timestamped Sep 8, 9:23 AM PDT, still carries the prior GIS figure (171,526 acres, 81% contained, 795 personnel) and describes fire behavior as "low to moderate," mostly smoldering, creeping, backing and flanking, with "persistent heat increasingly localized." It flagged today (Wednesday) as warmer and drier, with a chance of increased activity — backing, flanking, isolated surface spread — before conditions improve again by week's end.
No zone anywhere on the perimeter has been edited since Sep 3. The Level 1 ring closest to the house holds at 2.0 mi NNE (unedited since Sep 1), and the nearest Level 3 ring is unchanged at 5.1 mi N. Nothing here trips the tracker's alert condition.
Heat detections are where today differs. The two persistent, multi-day
clusters at 6.1 mi NE (10 detections/4 days) and 6.7 mi NE (11
detections/4 days) remain inside the fire's existing interior — unchanged
in character, just accumulating. New today: three single-day, single-cycle
clusters at 8.5 mi NNE (1 detection, FRP 1.5), 8.9 mi NNE (3
detections, FRP 5.2), and 10.1 mi NNE (4 detections, FRP 6.5) —
all persistent: false, all first seen this morning. Flagging these as
UNVERIFIED possible new starts, not confirmed fire. None coincide with
any mapped zone or the InciWeb narrative, and a news sweep (InciWeb,
lakewenatcheeinfo.com — unreachable again, Lake Chelan Now, the county's
active-emergencies page — last updated Aug 17, and a general search) turned
up nothing dated to today beyond InciWeb's own Wednesday-warmup forecast.
That forecast is consistent context for scattered heat showing up, not
corroboration of these specific points. Worth watching next cycle; not
leading the brief yet.
Fire weather
Today runs westerly and light: W 0–6 mph, sunny, high 83 — pushing the fire east, away from Plain, though barely moving air. Tonight turns NW 5–8 mph, Thursday W 8–15 mph (gusts to 25), both still favorable. Friday backs light and southwesterly (SW ~3 mph) ahead of a chance of rain Friday night (30%) and Saturday (50%). No NWS fire weather alerts, no thunderstorm or outflow signal in the forecast.
Air quality
Modeled AQI at the house is 22 (PM2.5 3.8 µg/m³) — good. No air quality alert.
Roads: no new road blocks logged.
