The last 24 hours

The house remains inside the Level 1 "Get Ready" zone, unchanged since the Aug 15 redraw. Level 2 "Get Set" holds at 2.0 mi NNE and Level 3 "Go Now" at 3.7 mi NNE, both untouched since Aug 16 — no edit to either this cycle.

The GIS perimeter refreshed to Aug 20, 11:58 AM PDT: 138,577 acres, 12% contained, up a modest 102 acres from this morning, containment flat. InciWeb's Aug 20, 12:44 PM update carries a slightly lower 138,475 acres, 12% — a minor lag, not a real conflict — with persistent heat on the southern edge, not the Plain-facing side. The nearest perimeter edge held exactly flat at 6.6 mi N.

The one real change is on the Entiat side, away from Plain: LG Entiat Level 2 "Get Set" was redrawn today (2:58 PM PDT), moving from 10.8 mi ESE to 9.3 mi E — 1.5 mi closer to the house. LG Entiat Level 3 "Go Now" carries the same edit timestamp but sits at an unchanged 8.4 mi ENE, reading as an administrative re-save. Both stay far outside the 15 mi range that matters for Plain and outside the Chiwawa corridor that is the actual threat vector. No news source corroborated this edit; InciWeb's evacuation notes this cycle cover the North Shore of Lake Chelan, not Entiat.

The Chelan County evacuation-zone page is still on its Aug 17, 3:30 PM post on the Chiwawa Level 3 expansion — five days stale now, unchanged. Lake Chelan Now's latest post is a community meeting notice: Tuesday, 6:30 PM at the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club, livestream available. lakewenatcheeinfo.com and wasmoke.blogspot.com (still Aug 17) turned up nothing new; a general search surfaced only older articles.

VIIRS: nearest detection 6.4 mi N (12 hours old), clusters at 6.3 and 6.4 mi N stay persistent. One new single-day detection at 6.8 mi NNE (2 hits, max FRP 1.49) — flagged UNVERIFIED, carries to tomorrow.

Fire weather

Light and still favorable: NW 5 mph this afternoon, easing to NW 3 mph overnight, then light SW Friday — pushing the fire east, away from Plain. New: NWS Spokane issued a Fire Weather Watch for Saturday 11 AM through Sunday 8 AM, the first red-flag-style language this cycle, tied to the weekend thunderstorm chance already on the radar. A Heat Advisory also runs Friday 11 AM–10 PM.

Air quality

Mixed: modeled AQI 62 (up from 60 this morning) but PM2.5 dropped sharply to 4.5 µg/m³ (from 18.3) as afternoon mixing cleared the overnight smoke settle. NWS's Air Quality Alert runs through 5:00 PM PDT today, with no renewal posted yet as of this writing.

The 6.8 mi NNE detection — needs a second calendar day to confirm or clear.

The plan, decided in advance

If a Level 1 zone reaches the house: confirm go-bags, documents, and medications are staged; keep both vehicles above half a tank; recheck this page and Watch Duty morning and evening.
If Level 2 reaches the house: load the cars, position them facing out, and leave early if anyone is home alone or mobility-limited. Do not wait for Level 3 to decide.
If Level 3 reaches the house — leave immediately: primary route Beaver Valley Rd → SR 207 → US 2; alternate Chumstick Hwy to Leavenworth (mind the pilot-car delays); US 2 west over Stevens Pass if east is compromised.
