Still quiet right around the house — the Level 1 zone and the nearer Plain-side boundaries are unchanged, and the Lake Chelan zones redrawn again this morning stay 15-plus miles away. Containment held at 25% on 162,961 acres while air quality worsened sharply to AQI 206, and the VIIRS hot spot 9 miles northeast flagged yesterday returned for a second day. Wind stays favorable out of the northwest.

The last 24 hours

The house remains inside the Level 1 "Get Ready" zone, unchanged since the Aug 25, 9:20 AM PDT redraw. Level 2 "Get Set" holds at 2 mi NNE and Level 3 "Go Now" at 3.7 mi NNE, both untouched since Aug 16 — nothing in the immediate Plain-side picture moved today.

Further out, the Sheriff's GIS layer redrew all three Lake Chelan zones again this morning, between 10:23 and 10:29 AM PDT. LG Chelan - Level 3 (Go Now!) still sits at 15.1 mi NE; Level 2 "Get Set" moved to 19.9 mi E (was 17.2 mi) and Level 1 "Get Ready" to 20.5 mi E (was 21.1 mi). All three stay well outside the distances that matter for Plain.

The GIS perimeter is dated Aug 28, 2:05 PM PDT — 162,961 acres, 25% contained, nearest mapped edge unchanged at 5.2 mi NNE, up about 1,800 acres from this morning. InciWeb's Aug 28, 1:23 PM update lists 161,236 acres, also 25% contained, with personnel at 2,015 — this cycle the GIS figure is the newer one and is working current. InciWeb notes strong westerly winds drove intense activity yesterday around Stormy and Baldy Mountain, consistent with growth on the fire's far side rather than the Plain flank.

VIIRS logged 457 detections in the region over the last 24 hours, down from 909 this morning — likely a satellite-pass artifact rather than a real drop in heat. The 9 mi NE cluster flagged yesterday at FRP 851 picked up a second consecutive day (24 detections across Aug 27–28), which by yesterday's own criterion moves it from a single-day notable reading to a genuine flank worth tracking; still no news source describes a distinct new ignition there, so it reads as intense established fire behavior rather than a new start. Nearest detection to the house overall holds at 6.4 mi NNE.

lakewenatcheeinfo.com again returned no usable content. Lake Chelan Now has no new Little Giant post. The Chelan County active-emergencies page is still stuck on its Aug 17, 3:30 PM update — now 11 days stale. wasmoke.blogspot.com's latest remains the Aug 27 post already reflected in prior briefs. A general search turned up only stale articles citing older acreage figures (from roughly 7,500 up to ~150,000 acres) that predate this run's numbers — discarded rather than reported.

No Red Flag Warning. Wind stays in the favorable northwest quadrant: NW 9 mph this afternoon (gusts to 18), NW 9 mph tonight, NW 7–14 mph Saturday, continuing NW into Sunday. Saturday carries a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon — worth a glance for erratic outflow, though the base flow stays light and out of the northwest.

Air quality

AQI 206 (PM2.5 206.8 µg/m³) as of 4 PM — a sharp jump from this morning's 170 and back into Unhealthy territory. NWS's Air Quality Alert was extended again and now runs through Aug 29, 12:00 PM PDT.
