The last 24 hours

The house remains inside the Level 1 "Get Ready" zone, unchanged since the Aug 15 redraw — day 10 of that status. Level 2 "Get Set" holds at 2 mi NNE and Level 3 "Go Now" at 3.7 mi NNE, both untouched since Aug 16. No zone in the Sheriff's layer was edited in the last 24 hours.

The GIS perimeter is still dated Aug 24, 3:51 PM PDT — 146,042 acres, 21% contained, a 6-point jump in containment from the prior cycle with acreage flat. InciWeb's Aug 25, 10:22 AM update has since posted a newer figure, 147,537 acres, also 21% contained — about 1,500 acres ahead of the GIS snapshot, consistent with the usual lag between the two sources rather than a new jump. Nearest mapped edge holds flat at 5.2 mi NNE. InciWeb repeats the pattern from recent days: morning thunderstorms driving "rapid increases in fire activity," followed by afternoon wind-shift "torching and spotting" — a continuation, not new.

VIIRS logged 1,409 detections in the region over the last 24 hours, well above yesterday's 608 — wasmoke.blogspot.com's Aug 24 post attributes ongoing smoke to the fire settling into mountain valleys, consistent with more heat showing under improved satellite visibility rather than necessarily faster growth. The confirmed near-Plain clusters hold at 5.2 and 5.6 mi NNE (60 and 35 detections, now 3 and 4 consecutive days). The 5.0 mi N cluster flagged unverified yesterday has picked up a second day of detections (11 total, Aug 24–25) and now reads as persistent rather than a lone blip. No cluster within 12 mi remains single-day and close enough to flag as a possible new start.

Lake Chelan Now's latest post is still the Aug 20 community-meeting notice, and the Chelan County EM page is still showing its Aug 17 update — both unchanged and stale. A general search surfaced only older articles describing earlier fire states (7,500 to roughly 145,000 acres, across various July and August datelines) that predate this run's figures — discarded as stale rather than reported.

Fire weather

Wind holds light S 1–5 mph today — the favorable quadrant, pushing the fire away from Plain — then swings light N 2–6 mph overnight, inside the north/northeast danger quadrant though too weak to matter on its own, before backing NW 2–8 mph Wednesday. No Red Flag Warning is posted.
